Credentials

Licensure and certifications by recognized state and national organizations are critical indicators of an individual’s competence to practice nursing in the United States. Licensure indicates that a practitioner has met minimum requirements for the practice of nursing at a specified level (LPN, RN, etc.). Board Certification by one or more of the 24 certifying bodies recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties indicates that a practitioner has gone above and beyond basic medical training to demonstrate proficiency in a particular specialty.

As a fully licensed and certified Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner, Carlota’s professional credentials include the following:

NP

California State Nurse Practitioner License & Furnishing Number

The California Board of Registered Nursing certifies public health nurses and advanced practice nurses within the state, distinguishing qualified individuals with a license to practice. It also issues furnishing numbers to qualified NPs allowing them to “furnish” drugs and devices to patients using approved procedures.

ANCC

ANCC Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Board certification is a key advanced qualification in today’s highly specialized healthcare sector. It goes beyond basic licensure to distinguish practitioners who have the advanced training and verifiable experience needed to truly be recognized as trusted specialists in their chosen area of expertise.

RN

California State
Registered Nurse License

The California Board of Registered Nursing protects and advocates for the health and safety of the public, ensuring the highest quality registered nurses in the state of California, through rigorous testing and licensure procedures.

heart

American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification

The BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an automated external defibrillator.

TMS

Clinical TMS Certification

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is an FDA-approved treatment for major depressive disorder, PTSD, generalized anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Certification recognizes the completion of training in TMS theory and the use of clinical equipment.

stamp2

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Registration

As a medical professional who administers, prescribes or dispenses any controlled substance, a PMHNP must register with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to receive an official DEA registration number.
